Weddings - Robertsons

Sara Tyer Photography

Two of my very favorite people in the world got married this month, after several sweet years of dating. Kyle and I had the pleasure of watching their relationship grow from the very beginning (and even share their dating anniversary!) Shannon sought me out 2 weeks prior to their wedding, after having no luck finding the perfect hairpiece to wear for their big day. I was overjoyed to oblige! I love them so much and it was such a joy and an honor to provide them something special for their wedding! You can feel the joy radiating from these pictures, it was truly the sweetest celebration!

Weddings - Sarah's hairpiece and veil in action!

Sarah (of Sknow Photo and Design) and Dave Mitchell were married at the end of April, and I had the distinct pleasure of creating Sarah's veil and hairpiece, in addition to helping film the whole shebang along with my hubbs. Here's some shots from their beautiful wedding and the pieces I made in action!

You may remember the hairpiece I made for Sarah K. {of Sknow Design and Photography} a while back for her upcoming wedding this month; well, she has just had engagement shots done while wearing it and looking just so lovely and blissfully happy with her fiance! These images are just beautiful and Sarah raves about Ica, her gorgeous work is definitely noteworthy!

Weddings - With Grace in Your Heart and Flowers in Your Hair

Another bridal hairpiece! I met Ashton for the first time over last summer, but our men have been buddies for several years as they were in the same engineering program at school. She is as sweet and beautiful as can be and we are so excited for their upcoming wedding in May! I can't wait to see her wearing this in the glow of her wedding day!

Weddings - Flowers and Veils

The sweet girl who did our wedding photography {sknow Photo and Design} recently asked me to do her veil and reception hairpiece for her upcoming wedding. I just completed the mantilla-style veil and her hairpiece so I thought I'd share them with you! I can't wait to see her final look when she gets married in April!

Weddings - Fosters - My wedding!

Kyle and I got married June 13, 2009. We had a limited budget so we tried to do a lot of the work ourselves, including designing the invitations, my dress, and personal touches for our big day.

Our invitations cost us less than $100 to make: We used a couple sets of cards { pre-scored and in sheet form for printing on, and came with matching envelopes} on sale at Target for $9 each. We chose the smallest ones possible to save on postage and created a postcard for our RSVP. We printed each of the different cards for the inserts on them and cut them to size and corner rounded each piece.
For the main part of the invite I ordered blue linen textured paper from a store online for about $30/500 sheets so needless to say I had more than enough paper (we're still trying to use it up!). Those were cut in half longways and corner rounded and punched with a scrap-booking punch I also got from Target for a few dollars.
We printed off all the addresses on the envelopes and all the interiors on our own printer and saved a lot of money, and we are still getting compliments from people we invited on how beautiful the invites came out!

My dress was my mother's, which was a replica of my Grandmother's dress which I then had reconstructed into a summer dress. It originally had long lace sleeves and was going to be completely inappropriate for a June beach wedding!

We were able to take it back to the same seamstress who made it for my mom, she operates out of Cibolo, Texas, a tiny town my mom grew up in just outside of San Antonio. For about $500, I got a completely custom made dress that was both beautiful and sentimental.

Another dear couple we are friends with also got married over the summer, and I did a last minute request for hairpieces for the bridesmaids. I neglected to get good pictures of them before I sent them to her but here are some shots from their gorgeous vintage farm wedding!

The Word on Mari Makes
Words from the lovely people I have worked to create custom pieces for!

"Mari. You were such a wonderful help with my special wedding details. I came to you having no idea what I wanted in a headpiece and knowing exactly what I wanted in a veil. The hairpiece you put together for me was more that what I had imagined, and the veil was exactly what I wanted. It was so helpful having you go from me just telling you my wedding colors, and the type of feel I wanted for my wedding, and then having you come out with this amazing hairpiece that was just perfect for my wedding. You made things a lot less stressful and you was so easy to work with. I had seen your work before, so it was easy to just put complete trust in your creativity. I would work with you again in a heart beat."

Mari made a gorgeous head piece for my wedding  I wasn't the type of girl that wanted the traditional veil and Mari was there to help me make my vision for a beautiful flower head piece come alive!! Her communication with me was amazing!! I first talked with her via face book asking if she would be up for the job and of course she said yes!! She then contacted me so that we could do a face to face consultation where she would show me material, jewels, buttons, feather and all other things that she could use to create the head piece I was going for  I was so impressed and hugely blessed that she worked around my schedule and drove all the way to richmond, which was ways out of her way!! When we met she listened to what I was thinking it would look like and added so many helpful suggestions and ideas and in the end it came out looking just GORGEOUS!! The head piece looked even better than I expected and I could tell by looking at it that Mari put a lot of heart and effort into it  My overall experience with Mari was amazing and I most definitely would work with her again and recommend her to anyone else that needs something crafty done for their special day

more pretties to enjoy
